Elements: a shimmering cylinder constantly rotating in an iron cube. Two metal planks, representing arms, each one with a large basin on wheels at the end, are fixed to the sides of the tube. These arms can be manually opened and closed. On each of the two basins, a video projection is mounted. The projections touch the metal arms and are deformed as they are reflected off the shimmering, rotating cylinder.

The top part of the projections touches the slightly concave wings that bend the image while nevertheless guaranteeing that the image is sharper inside the object. The content of the projected images is a succession of daily situations (work, buying things in the city, the office, a soccer game and other important events...)

The mobile arms, opening and closing, symbolize the maternal or paternal arms of democracy. The position of the arms is arbitrary, democracy can be created and modified to order, according to the situation, and democracy can have a wider or narrower spectrum of liberties. Democracy's arms can also close entirely and crush all those who cannot escape from its grasp.

The form of the object in this ensemble represents a weapon of a strange war: the cylinder, at the center, functions as a gluttonous roller, devouring our desires, our images, and our action, leaving nothing left over but fragments. In this way, democracy eats its own images, eating itself. The concave wings, in back, represent art; they are the only place where things are clearer. These are the «wings of escape». Sometimes, a thought is sufficient to arrive at this escape; our liberty depends on our spiritual conscience.
